Marcelo is a founding partner of Pereira, Gonçalves & Serafim, Law Firm.
At the beginning of his professional career, Marcelo worked primarily in the areas of technology, chemistry, and industry. Later, he dedicated himself specifically to the study and implementation of project finance in the tourism sector.
His role as a business lawyer is to ensure the legality of commercial transactions, advising companies on their legal rights and duties, including the duties and responsibilities of their corporate bodies.
As a corporate lawyer, he offers expertise and knowledge in construction law, business law, general contract law, and, above all, in structuring efficiently, analyzing financial data, negotiating and reviewing agreements, creating company and project structures, and also foreseeing and mitigating damages.
Whenever necessary, he advises our clients to face legal challenges by envisioning and implementing result-oriented solutions. Marcelo usually avoids conflicts, but as a litigator, he is clearly oriented towards confrontations, if necessary, in court. Currently, he favors arbitration as a means of resolving disputes between companies.
Throughout his more than 30 years of a multidisciplinary professional career, Marcelo has advised companies of all sizes, from small start-ups to publicly traded companies, especially multinationals, largely from the industrial sector, and is usually invited to their Fiscal Councils. Due to his vast experience and personal interest, he quickly grasps technical matters and is equally comfortable with industry jargon.
His knowledge, experience, and jovial personality place him in a position to understand differences and build bridges between people and organizations of different cultural, legal, and corporate backgrounds.
Marcelo speaks English, Spanish, and Italian fluently and has a practical knowledge of French.
